Muharram processions will be allowed like last year: LG Sinha | KNO

Srinagar, June 26 (KNO): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday said that Muharram processions will be allowed along all the routes through which these were permitted in Srinagar last year. Replying to a query of a reporter here, LG Sinha, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said, “Muharram processions will be allowed like last year.” It may be recalled that in 2023 after a 34-year ban, LG Sinha led administration had allowed thousands of Shia mourners to take out the 8th Muharram procession through the traditional Guru Bazaar-Dalgate route in Srinagar. ourners after assembling at Guru Bazaar area of Srinagar city had marched through Budshah Chowk to M A Road and then to Dalgate amidst tight security. In the same year the 10th Muharram procession was allowed across Kashmir after a gap of 34 years. Shia mourners had taken out a massive procession from the traditional route of Botakadal to Zadibal area of Srinagar. The procession had marked a significant event as for the first time in over 3 decades state head participated in the Zuljinah procession when Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha took part. LG Sinha had taken part in the procession and also distributed refreshment among the Shia mourners—(KNO)
